On "Living Fences"

A bulletin of the use of multiform rose for "living fences" has been issued and now is available without cost from the Agricultural Enterprise Service, V.P.I., Sturtevantag! The bulletin gives detailed instructions on using and caring for the fence, preparing the site, and planting. It is USDA leaflet No. 126, "Multiform Rose."

The census was originally authorized by Congress as a means of determining the population base for each state's Congressional representation. This reason, of course, is still basic, but the census has ever gone far beyond the original population count and regularly provides authoritative information regarding every segment of American life and the workings of the economy. Sample surveys dealing with an increasing variety of subjects have been conducted since 1940, thus making the Bureau of the Census the nation's outstanding fact-finder in major economic and social spheres.
